Born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta, Jonny has always been energized by relationships he has built with others. In 2007 he found himself out of work with no real skills to offer but after recalling a conversation he had with his late grandfather Eric, he decided to become a barber. Eric shed some light on his past experiences being self-employed and said that becoming a barber would be a respectable career that could fuel his passion of working with others.
Jonny jumped right in and hasn’t looked back. He studied hair styling at Marvel College and loved every moment of it. After working in a few salons in Alberta, Jonny decided he wanted to make the move to the beautiful west coast of British Columbia. He traveled the island for a few years and chose to settle down in Nanaimo.
Nanaimo now feels like home, and his passion continues in his work with others. The most satisfying feeling is when he hears one of his clients say, “This is the best haircut I’ve had in years!” Having great conversations with his clients and friends, being active in the community, and making sure all his clients leave the shop satisfied, all the while doing his best to stay humble and continue to hone his craft behind the chair.
